Continuous ploughing of the soil, and lack of live fences on the farm borders, or erosion prevention solutions using vetiver, have made farm soils gravelly, lacking in micro-nutrients, and unable to retain water. Rock dust, along with other solutions can be used to fix such soils.
When added to compost, the micro-nutrients in rock dust become available from either bacterial and fungal action, or additionally from the action of earthworms.
